Rotork assists BAE Systems in naval base actuator upgrades

Rotork has been working with BAE Systems to upgrade a collection of A-range actuators to IQ3 actuators which function penstocks controlling movement of ships between the ocean and transitional locks and dry docks at Her Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth (HMNB Portsmouth).
A sequence of A-range actuators had reached the tip of their operational life after long service in a challenging setting. เกจวัดแรงดัน wished to retain all the advantages of electrical actuators, so IQ3 actuators have been chosen. These had to be specially tailored by Rotork to beat issues around confined areas and tough access.
IQ3 actuators and IS gearboxes have been mechanically adapted in order that both actuator and gearbox could be manually operated without getting into the confined area. Rotork designed particular hand auto levers and through drive mechanisms for the actuator and gearbox to eliminate the necessity for confined area access.
Actuators within the IQ range are watertight, providing ingress safety to IP66/68 at 20 m for 10 days. They have an advanced twin stacked display with configurable data logger functionality, and an absolute position sensor offers reliability and accuracy.
